Nothing less will describe the Rockingham rounds for Slidesports and the Pallex Motorsports Porsche: a fairytale come true. 2 wins and a second in the 3 races, 2 poles and a 2nd on the grid in GTB.
The weekend got off to a perfect start with qualifying the Porsche on pole in class, and 3rd overall behind a works Aston Martin Vantage and a works Ferrari 458, and once the lights went out, there was no looking back for the Pallex Motorsports team.
GTB honours went to David Fairbrother and James Greenway after leading from the start. David said: “James had a great qualifying and a great start to the race and I just followed his lead so it was quite easy for me to bring it home.” James said: “I had a good start and we were up there with the big boys in third overall and had a group lead by quite some way. I managed to give Dave the lead he needed to remain calm and bring the car home so a fantastic result for the Pallex Porsche.
As an extra fillip in the cap, the team were also credited with the fastest lap in class.
Race 2 was also on Saturday 23rd May, and with the confidence boost of race won, the team cleaned up with another win in class! Even when the heavens opened there was no stopping the Slidesports crew, and James brought the car home for a great win.
James said: “Another great race for us. I had a great start too, we were running comfortably in third until the Aston came past and dropped us into fourth, but then the R8 had a problem, which pushed us back up to third. It was fairly straightforward really, I maintained the gap to the guys in the group and not pushing the car. Then the rain came. I’ve never driven this car in the rain before, so on slicks in the wet was good fun. I’m really happy.”
Sunday 24th May was the 3rd and final race of the weekend, and Dave Fairbrother was again on pole position in class and after an exciting race there was yet more silverware to collect, as Dave had finished in second place.
In the overall standings the Pallex Slidesports Porsche team are currently in 3rd place, in a close battle for the series win:
1 Tom Webb/James Webb - BMW E46 M3 GTR - 238 points
